Hi Ho! Hi Ho! It's thrifting we shall go.....

So, today I wandered over to Amvets and found a few treasures that I just couldn't resist and one I wish I had!
First of all both our large and our small roasting pans were lost during the last move. I found a nice sized rectangular pan, suitable for holding a good sized turkey breast or a large lasagna! No lid, but that's o.k.

I had been pricing bottles (I want to distill Scotch, Gin and nice red wine and put them in the dining room on the little table I am refinishing . It looks so much nicer then just slapping down the bottles they came in. Don' t you think?) I found these 2 decanters today. Now I only have to locate one more bottle!

The had Julia Child's French Cooking for only 78cents! Woo Hoo! Parlez-vous Frances anyone?

After reading The Gentle Art of Domesticity, I have decided to try my hand at making a quilt. There's a photo of a quilt in the book that is basically bars of fabric (as opposed to blocks), SOOOOO I found some curtains that I liked and I plan to cut them up to make the quilt. I figured that was less expensive then going out and buying new fabric.

I loved this little Infant of Prague statue. My MIL has a huge gorgeous one downstairs in her home and I have always admired it. Now I have a little one of my own.

Now, the "mistake" I found a knitting machine for $10. I was thrilled! It was an older Brother model but well made, all metal and seemed to work. Stupid me, forgot about the carriage. It's not with it! Can't use it without the carriage. I am madly scouring the internet trying to find a replacement part, but haven't had any luck so far. I think I will wander back to Amvets tomorrow to search the shelf and see if it could possibly have been mis-laid. In the meantime if anyone knows a place that sells old parts for Brother knitting machines could you leave me a note?

All in all it was a good afternoon. Even if I eat that ten I spent on the knitting machine, I saved more then that on fabric alone! And there's always the chance I will find myself a carriage and be able to knit sweaters in a single day! How awesome would that be???

What great deals, and you're definitely on the right track buying the curtains for their fabric! Hope you find the missing piece to the knitting machine. It's those details that get us every time!

I hate when that happens :) I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's at the store. Love the decanters.
