After driving everyone in to school early, I went over to Lowes and purchased the tiles. The nice boy with the front end loader put them in the van for me. (Those boxes are pretty darn heavy! And I got 20 of them!)
Then I went home and pulled up the 2nd layer of carpeting. NOW I am working on the tile. I was just going to do the adhesive from the last layer of carpeting, but it turns out that it's better to go all the way down to the sub floor...sooooo I have been scraping for hours and making very little progress so far. I tried an iron (I know we have a heat gun or 3 around here, but I can't find anything in that garage!). The iron helps a little. I looked up on the internet and someone suggested vinegar. So I am currently waiting to see if the vinegar will dissolve the adhesive.
In the meantime I made these little froggy cookies for the bake sale at Gilli's school tonight. I'm hopping that the cute froggy shape will cause unsuspecting children to beg their parents for a treat! LOL
Tonight there is, as I said, Gillian's concert and Matty's ball game. I may have to give up soon and start back to work on the floor in the morning. It's hard to get things done when you have to stop and do other things all the time, but that's life with kids and ...honestly...Gillian has been practicing so hard the last few months and she's so proud...how can you not want to go?

Oh, my...I've done this before...such nasty work. Let's see...I bought something from Lowes that cut the old glue pretty good. Wish you could just wiggle yur nose and it would all be done.
The frog cookies look sooo cute!
You did good!
hugs, bj
This is tough work! There is something that dissolves that adhesive...can't remember the name but we got it at Lowe's a few years ago.
You are superwomen in my book. To tackle this job AND make cookies as adorable as this!!? Wow. You are amazing!
Love,
Sue
Thanks so much & for popping by! Wow what a huge job to tackle-your brave:)

Terri,
I have ripped up carpeting and laid floors. It is not an easy job and many times you find surprised under the first layer.
All of our floors are laminate now except the bedroom and I'm hoping to get it done either this year or next. Carpeting and a large Alaskan malamute dog just don't go together.
Have a great day.
Blessings,
Mary
Just read up on your tiling/carpet removal ordeal.
And you found time to make adorable froggy cookies TOO?
I'm not worthy!

Girl ... you rock. Keep up the good work. That floor will be such a source of happiness to look at when it's done. You'll appreciate it even more knowing what it took to get it in there.
Those are way cute cookies! but that's also one heckuva lot of work! Tip of the hat to you, brave soul. I'll enter you in the draw for the book - thanks for stopping by my blog!
I took on a big project like that a couple of years ago. Pulled up NASTY carpet and used a silly little hand-sander to sand the old wood floors in dining room, living room and bedroom. A ton of work. Hope your project is coming along well. Wish I was there to help you!
Love those froggies!!
