Funny, I like being childish

I have been listening to and reading a lot about Fred Rogers of Mr. Roger's neighborhood lately. For many years before his passing I had loved him, but thought him too unsophisticated to actually listen to anymore. Lately, however, I have reconsidered that judgement.
What if we all lived by the rules of childhood. Play fair. Tell the truth. Do your best. Be cheerful and helpful. I don't think that would be so bad. In fact, I think it would be wonderful. So, I am going to turn over a new leaf. I am going back to Romper Room and Miss Betty (she hosted the version I remember as a kindergartner) and I am going to be a Do Bee. Do you remember the song?
" I always do what's right.
I never do anything wrong.
I'm a romper room dobee.
A dobee all day long!"

I don't expect I'll succeed 100% of the time. But I'm sure going to try.
Some part of us as human beings always wants to be "good". Humanism, relativism, just plain selfishness have taken the place of the golden rule in many hearts. Maybe that's why so many people are so unhappy with their lives. Maybe if we went back to the rules we believed in at the beginning of our lives, the simple innocent rules of fair play and good humour we could find some of the happiness we seem to have lost growing up.
Just a thought I think is worth considering....what do you think?

YES! I have often said that I wanted to be 8 again when the world was a nicer place. Of course, that is my 8 year-old viewpoint. I LOVED romper room when I was little and listened so closely for her to say my name when she was looking through the glass..."I see Jane, and you Tommy. There's Melissa..." She could never see me. I still dont' know why ~ LOL! I'll try with you, try, try...
