Making lemonade

On Thursday morning Joe was scheduled to fly in from his job in Canada. I volunteered to pick him up at the Rochester airport a little more then an hour from our home in the Finger Lakes.

The Air Canada flight was supposed to arrive by 9:30 or so, but it was not to be.
As the plane began powering up for take off the pilots discovered a problem in one of the engines. So they taxied back to the terminal and announced it would be an hours delay while they fixed the problem. By the time Joe told me I was more then half way to the airport, so I decided I would just wait. Before I arrived at the airport Joe called again and announced it would be at least another hour or two before his flight would finally be able to take off.

What to do? What to do? I'd already "spent" the gas money on getting to town. Seemed sorta dumb to drive an hour home wait for 1/2 an hour and then head back to Rochester, so I decided to treat myself to a trip to the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester. I am so glad I did!!

They were featuring Japanese kimono exhibit that was just so beautiful! http://mag.rochester.edu/exhibitions/

AND after I went through there my ticket also included viewing the rest of the gallery. What a perfectly lovely gem of a collection and just down the road from us! They have a little of everything there from ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt to modern (sigh) art! O.K. you can keep the modern art.... but the rest was really wonderful!

Every time Joe called to tell me his flight was delayed again, he thanked me for being so patient! LOL! Are you kidding me? Take your time!!

So, the moral of the story is: when life hands you lemons, make lemonade! When there are unexpected delays in your plans take a look around and see if you can't fill your time with something wonderful! You won't regret it!

What a wonderful idea and a great way to spend your waiting time. If it is like here, there is nothing to do in the airport on the waiting side of security.
Good for you.
