Nothing really new here....

Did you get any of that ice and snow? We got a dusting and nothing more. Tomorrow it's supposed to get to 50 and rain. So, there won't be any snow by tomorrow night. No worries about a white Christmas, though. We are expecting more snow Monday. I hope everyone who lost power in the NE gets turned on again soon!
I'm liking my entry from the front door into the house.
Simple, but pretty I think. And see how sweet and comfortable my chair by the fire looks! Just begs you to come in, have a cuppa and relax awhile, don't you think? Of course you would have to chase the dog out of the chair first, though she's perfectly willing to share if you are!
Here is our "starter collection" of nutcrackers. I plan to hit some after Christmas sales and get a few more for next year. I had one, a chimney sweep with a top hat and chimney brush, for years and years. One of the babies broke it several years ago by lugging it around all the time....I think a replacement is long overdue! Though that particular one came from the Black Forest and I don't think I'll be running over there anytime soon.
Still at work on the dollhouse. I am waiting oh so patiently for
my husband's Christmas vacation so that we can finish the
inside windows...THEN LOOK OUT! I have curtains and
furniture and knick knacks. I can hardly wait to be allowed
to play with it! LOL
Books, books and more books. Are you reading anything good?
I am reading a biography of Elinore and Franklin Roosevelt and there time in the white house. Sorry all you FDR fans, but the TR side of the family was really so much nicer and so much more down to earth. I don't think I would have liked FDR as a person very much and Elinore, well, she had issues, bless her heart and I feel sorry for her. I don't think she was very happy privately, though well loved and well thought of publicly.
Anyway, it's off to Mass for us this evening so all the MALES can sleep in tomorrow. Gillian and I still have CCD, but no matter! It's a lot less rushed getting one kid up, ready and out the door then it is trying to get 5 of 'em!
Hope you're having a great weekend and remember: only 12 more days til Christmas!!! Those elves better kick it into gear if they aren't about ready!!!

I am not ready and so late with everything it seems this year. How did Christmas happen upon us so quickly? But you sound as though you have found Christmas spirit. I am glad you did not loose your electricity in the midst of the ice storm. It made the news here in Holland even.

Books...I am reading an Aunt Dimity cozy mystery called 'Snowbound' right now. I love the Aunt Dimity series. Have you read them?

Hugs ~

Hi:
Your house looks like it is saying "come on in". Your nutcrackers are very cute. As you probably know I am a dollhouse nut. I have 7 large ones. I just started a book, so can't say yet how good it is. I don't have time to read much now.

Everything looks merry and bright at your house, Terri! It's all lovely. My son started collecting nutcrackers when he was 6 and in the first grade. His teacher taught them about the ballet and read them the story. A friend gifted us with a trip to see the PNB perform the story and he was so enthralled. His collection is so large now, that we're starting to run out of display space, but we still add one every year. I've always written the year and who the nutcracker was from, on the bottom of each of them. That way he can remember the story behind each one.

I'm reading Nigel Slater's Kitchen Diaries, and Doreen Tovey's, Cats in May. I'm longing for The Guernsey Literary Club and Potato Peel Society, but there are almost 400 people waiting for it at the library. The book store didn't have it, so I may have to order it. I've heard it is really good, and I think you would like it. It's written in letters.

Oh what fun this doll house is! I know you can not wait to get inside of it and decorate!

I look forward to seeing it all done!
