On Sunday afternoons

from Labor Day until Memorial Day, the library downtown is open from 1 - 5 on Sundays. This is the Central Library. The really, really big one!
I have been down there several times now and I can find it easily. Today I even copped a parking spot (free on Saturdays and Sundays) directly across from the main entrance!!! AND I parallel parked in one turn and it was a BEAUTIFUL thing!
I took Gillian and her friend Liz with. We each brought out an armload of books! (So many to choose from! They really should give us shopping carts in there. But then I suppose you couldn't get them up the escalators....
Anyway, the only problem with going downtown is that it's generally a slight issue for me to find the right road home. After driving around for 20 minutes Miss Elizabeth asked if I would like her to call her mom, tell her we were lost, and ask directions. I had to correct her, because I was NOT lost. I was only turned around. She gave me a look that told me she didn't believe she would ever see home again if I didn't ask for help, so I said "Lizzy! Do you want your mom to think I'm a total idiot?" She didn't say a word. Sigh.
Anyway, of course I did finally find my way home and if they didn't keep doing construction on the roads and putting up detour signs all over the place it wouldn't have been an issue in the first place.....but I think I should start saving for a GPS system. Just in case.

I, too, am saving for a GPS. Good luck, in the meantime!

Happy first day of October Terri! I love your pumpkin orange background!

It always makes me happy to see children being shown the pleasures of the library. I first discovered them when I was in 3rd grade, and to this day, the library is one of life's greatest gifts to me.

All my best to you.

I love libraries! I've wandered around in the Portland City Library even though we live two hours away and can't check out any books there. Their such wonderful places. I love the smiles on the girls faces. They look proud of their stacks of books.
Glad you made it home safe and sound. I get "turned around" quite often myself. Doesn't make us idiots....does it?!
