How to celebrate Tasha's birthday

As some of you may remember, today is Tasha Tudor's birthday. Clarice over at Story Book Woods (http://storybookwoods.typepad.com/storybook_woods/) suggested we honor Tasha today and blog about it. I don't have my goats anymore and my dogs are Boston Terrier's not Corgi's but I do dabble with painting a little bit.

Last March (http://homeatlastfarm.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html )
I blogged about a portable water color kit that you could make from an old Altoids can. I have made a variation on the subject! I bought a mini acrylics set ($1 at Joanne's) and adapted it for use. I thought it turned out kind of cute! (the origin of my kit came from a blog on Spineretta's site http://jacobiterose.blogspot.com/ )

I also got around to working in my garden a little...planting some cabbage and broccoli before the rain started.

And now I am having a spot of tea with the family...just as Tasha loved to do.

I think the thing I loved most about Tasha was her courage. She dreamed the life she wanted and then she went out and lived it. She chose her life and then reveled in that life without complaining or looking back constantly.

I wonder if she is back in time now, as she thought she'd be...the wife of a New England Sea Captain at the beginning of the 19th century? I know she'll always be in my heart as a role model for taking Joy from life and never letting the critics and nay sayers prevent me from living my best life my way.

Happy Birthday Tasha!

I agree with you about Tasha Tudor. I get too caught up sometimes in "what other people think" and Tasha found the courage to ignore all of that. Her legacy of self expression is one that we could all take a lesson from; to be yourself and take joy in that! Thanks for sharing the butterfly story too. ~Kathy
