Let Them Eat Cake

Mass at our church isn't until 11, so this morning I had a chance to watch Marie Antoinette starring Kirsten Dunst. Visually, this movie is stunning...the palace. the clothes, the food....life at the French court(they actually filmed on location at Versailles) ....gorgeous.... absolutely sumptuous! But director Sophia Coppola, added a rock and roll score to the film that is most distracting! Also, there are people gossiping throughout the movie...just things heard in passing that are whispered, mumbled and generally unintelligable! I finally turned the subtitles on.
If you haven't seen it yet, it's worth a look...as a matter of fact turn the sound off and just look. You'll probably enjoy it better that way. Then go get a copy of Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraiser and learn more about the real woman.
