On Saturday, for the first time ever, I went to New York City. It was one of those things on my "to do" list that I wanted to check off. I figured that I could go, hit a few highlights and then never have to go back again. After all, I am not only a country girl, but a southerner as well. I have no interest in frequenting some place so alien to my nature and history as New York City.
Much to my surprise, I loved it! We all did! (I went with my husband 5 children and my oldest son's girl friend). The only bad part was that it ended too soon! We couldn't fit enough in to the 2 short days we were there!
There was enough to see at the Met alone that would have required us having at least twice as much time to let it all soak in. I nearly wept when it was time to leave! I never even made it too the sculpture exhibit or the fashion exhibit or European art before 1900! The

I was stunned by the sheer overwhelming volume of it!We made it to the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Macy's, Time Square, Central Park and the Museum of Natural History, but have to go back for the Statue of Liberty, The MOMA, T.R.s birth place, the zoo, and more shopping,eating and sight seeing. Joe and I are already planning on a romantic return trip on our anniversary next month for dinner and a Broadway show!
I may never want to live in such a big city, but boy oh boy I sure want to go back and have another bite of the big apple!

Terri ~ I'm glad you had such a wonderful time in NYC. I miss my years working there and being able to see and do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. It sounds like you visited lots of great places. You'll have to go back over and over again and visit some of the small residential areas with their own charm, restaurants and cafes, and shops!! And definitely visit the Cloisters... a beautiful place with fantastic medieval European exhibits, tapestries and gardens.

What fun! NYC really does have some wonderful things to see and do. I visited The Met once and oh, what a place! I loved it. Standing in front of those original paintings by the old masters was an awe-inspiring experience for me. You're right, you needs LOTS of time to see everything. We only had 2 or 3 hours.

Our weather has been horrible here, with -1ยบ this morning, plus incredibly cold wind chills. The sun is shining now but it's still frigid, with a nasty wind. Yesterday I got caught in a whiteout....a terrifying experience! PTL I made it out safely. There was a 5 car pile-up shortly afterward. School was closed today, thank heavens.
