Sunday morning

With 3 weeks to go before the "big move", I spent the day, yesterday, finishing out my garden. The corn and beans are done for the year. There's still plenty of squash, tomatos and turnips, though!
I have always enjoyed working in my garden, but this year I never got into the "swing of things". I didn't can as much as I usually do, either. There's a nice garden at the new house and we'll put in another garden next year and try again.
There's something so calming about digging in the dirt on a sunny day. I love the smell of the soil. I love the colors of the garden, the leaves as well as the blossoms! I love the buzzing sounds the bees make as they go about their business of pollinating the blooms. Sometimes I just sit out there and just absorb all the sights and sounds and smells that my senses can take in. These memories sustain me through the winter, so that by January I am once again starting my seed trays WAY too early, because I cannot wait to get back out in my garden again.
Somebody once said that you can feel closer to God in a garden, then anyplace else on earth. I believe that to be true. He is, after all, THE master gardener of all time! And he lovingly placed the first of his favorite creations, (Adam and Eve), in a garden. I think that says something.
